Display Case



Currently working on the display case. It is 68" wide. 49.5" high, 15" deep. Two side panels. Two cork panels to the side of the case itself, one being 35"x28", the other 35"x31". Got some rockin' ideas going on for that!

I have created an online poll to help me determine which four movie posters I wish to buy for my display board. Since they will be viewed in a college building, seen by other students and not just myself, I would like some input as to what movie posters you would like to see put up. At the end of this post are pictures displaying the posters you are voting for.

Here's the scenario. You're walking down the hall, late to class probably, not that the professor will notice. You see this display board that always has really boring history junk in it, and you never give it a second glance. But THIS semester... it's different. You stop and look, because what you see interests you. Jeez, it has movie posters! And it's supposed to be talking about research!

Now, which of the following posters caught your eye?

What made you stop, ponder, and go 'huh... interesting!'? Or made you laugh... or make you think twice about what you saw? What would capture your attention, and more importantly, your interest?

To answer questions I have already heard: No,the display case is not all movie posters. That is actually a very small part of the overall display. Yes, there will be random and interesting facts put inside of it.

Some interesting observations:

The 1940s had a LOT of pirate movies that won, or were nominated for, Oscars. They had a lot of big-name actors and actresses in them as well.

• The Sea Hawk (1940) was nominated for 4 Oscars and starred Errol Flynn.
• The Black Swan (1942) won an Oscar and had two other nominations, and starred Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara.
• Reap the Wild Wind (1942) won an Oscar and had two other nominations, and starred Ray Milland, John Wayne, and Paulette Goddard.
• Frenchman's Creek (1944) won an Oscar and starred Joan Fontaine.
• The Princess and the Pirate (1944) was nominated for two Oscars and starred Bob Hope, Virginia Mayo, and Walter Brennan.
• Captain Kidd (1945) was nominated for an Oscar and starred Charles Laughton and Randolph Scott.
• The Spanish Main (1945) starred maureen O'Hara and Paul Henreid.

The 50s just had some awesome movies that have become classics, such as Against All Flags (1952), Caribbean (1952) and The Crimson Pirate (1952).
